Official Results of: Malir district's (Karachi) Constituency PS-127, provincial Assembly seat, by-election





The seat in Malir district's constituency PS-127 of Karachi fell vacant due to MQM's  Ashfaque Mangi left his party and resigned from the provincial assembly seat to join the Mustafa Kamal's Pak Sarzameen Party.
A close contest was expected between MQM, PTI and PPP. The parties had following candidates in the race:

-Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM)  Waseem Ahmad
-Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Nadeem Memon
-Pakistan People's Party’s (PPP) Ghulam Murtaza Baloch

The by election held on 8th September 2016. The government had announced  holiday in the constituency to facilitate the voters.
There were more than 107,000  registered voters in the constituency.A total of 134 polling stations were there in the constituency.The Election Commission had granted the authority of Magistrate to Rangers and Presiding Officers, rangers deployed inside and outside the polling stations whereas army’s quick response force  remained on standby.

And according to the official results of PS-127 karachi, malir's constituency Pakistan People's Party’s (PPP) Ghulam Murtaza Baloch (21187 votes) beating Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM)  Waseem Ahmad (15553 votes).

2)Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM)  Waseem Ahmad (15553 votes)
3)Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Nadeem Memon (5580 votes)

Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated his party members on a glorious victory in the constituency PS-127 and PPP chairman directed party leaders for door-to-door visit in the constituency to thanks the people for victory.

In this way MQM Pakistan has lost their first battle after they show their detachment from Altaf Hussain.  And it is the first victory of PPP after Murad Ali Shah’s appointment as CM Sindh. The dust may take a while to settle but it was a PPP’s day as they reclaims this seat after 12 years.
